Objectives

The project goals were to expand the framework of understanding the modern world, to develop students and staff’s competencies and general and intercultural awareness, to increase the actual practice of EU values, citizenship and identity, to establish international networks for better employment opportunities (at home or abroad) and comprehensive personality development. Participants develop social and communication skills, personality features and motivation. They improve IT competencies and learn about technologies in a real work context. Students become more directly aware of the learning goals; this strengthens their affinity for lifelong learning and flexibility in finding their own learning paths, which is SCL’s contribution to their opportunities for integrating into society and work. Teachers upgrade their expertise and compare the curriculum, teaching methods, practical lessons and work placement. The teachers’ mobility results in greater lessons relevance and contributes to understanding the qualifications framework. The project team strengthened project and teamwork methods. Mobility is a convincing attraction of SCL’s promotion. It enforces the students’ attractiveness to employers and enables SCL’s development.

Background

The LESKET-Vmob 1921 project was a 2-year project, extended by one year. The applicant – Ljubljana School Center (SCL) – is a regionally important VET institution. Mobility is defined as a key element of SCL’s internationalization with the goal of achieving its mission and vision – quality competencies for a profession or study; becoming a leading VET institution in existing and new VET programs). In the rapidly changing world, we have to train students broadly, which we cannot do merely at home. They must get resistant to fake news and stereotypes, and experience that Slovenia has many developmental advantages in terms of VET and quality of life. Although the corona has increased the awareness of EU, they are only vaguely familiar with the EU's role and values. Mobility is the key to seeing "out of the box"; it empowers students for studies or (self)-employment. Internationalization at home increases professional self-confidence, as our students are highly praised by foreign partners (schools and companies). During mobility, the students compare their learning habits with foreign peers and become aware of the importance of learning. Upgrading with foreign business practices indirectly updates domestic entrepreneurial concepts.
