The topic chosen for our project has been considered very carefully. Each country involved has confirmed its interest. We are concerned that our pupils, students, teachers and parents do not know much about other countries except some obsolete information mostly brought by media. Our aim is to wider our horizons, to arouse students’ interest in others and to get a deeper insight into common lives of our friends. We feel that this tackling of healthy lifestyle is a key issue that most of young adults face today. In addition to this, the coordinating school is located in the community which is according to the National institute for Health on the last place in the country. It lies in an area where you can feel the polluted influence of the factory Paloma and the impact of fertilizing fields in Austria. Young people in the town have no quality opportunities to spend their free time activities in the nature, because all the sports infrastructures and amenities are in surroundings of the school. Children spend too much time behind screens and are mostly physically non-active. all partner schools are familiar with such problems and is their primary concern to deal with physical and mental health of their students and teachers. All partner schools are also strongly active in their local environment with organizing several activities for their students as well as for the other citizens. With the project we would be able to gain priceless experience for all the partners and share vital examples of good practice among teenagers across Europe. In the vicinity of School Sladki Vrh there are few hiking paths but it would be more efficient to equip them with sign and notice boards where the visitors could be suggested doing different exercises with motivational phrases. The project plans to include in the school curriculum a Guide to a Healthy Lifestyle, during classes that elaborate on the coordinates necessary to achieve a healthy lifestyle. It is an interdisciplinary module/course combining Biology, Chemistry, Physical Education and Counseling. It can be used by Biology, Chemistry, Physical Education and Counseling teachers and can also be included in the Counseling curriculum. The project will be represented by 5 partner schools with different profiles of teachers who will participate in all activities. The Guide to a Healthy Lifestyle brings information and new examples of good practice concerning the healthy beneficial effects of physical activities, healthy nutrition, natural environment and mind development, which are key elements for health. The project introduces new concepts in schools: - a healthy life is a life in motion - a healthy life depends on healthy nutrition - a healthy life is an active natural life connected to natural resources of health - a healthy life relies on an open mind seeking perpetual progress The project continues the eco-friendly awareness promoted by the activities implemented with the previous project "Water for Life" that focused on the importance of clean water for the quality of life.
The goals of the Healthy European Student project were chosen very carefully and in cooperation with all partner schools from SLO, Slovakia, Romania, Portugal and Latvia. At the first introductory meeting, all partners agreed on their expectations regarding the project and the priorities of each school. The mental and physical health of children and employees is a priority for all schools. priority area. We also found that all schools operate in an environment surrounded by industry, whether local craftsmen or traffic, large factories, waste centres...Each country also prepared a presentation of the school and the environment from which its students come, and opportunities for outdoor recreation. The environment in which we live and those close to us (parents, school, friends) are a very big factor in motivating us to live a healthy lifestyle. In order to stimulate interest, aspiration, motivation, and activities in all partner schools and the local environment, we have implemented several diverse goals in our project, which have been shown to have contributed to better awareness and better activity among students, employees, parents, and consequently also the local environment. We showed and proved to all participants that cooperation is important and that's the only way we can succeed. We learned from each other new ways and ways of thinking, life in other international environments, how young people at each school think. We also made progress in informing the public-our work was followed by the local and regional media, as well as NA, who were very helpful with their advice. We carried out all the planned activities, we only slightly adjusted them and changed the order, as we were adapting to the current health, weather and time factors. At each activity, we first presented the meaning, purpose and goals of the project, Erasmus+, the school and the participants, in the workshops we carried out planned activities that all led to or were part of the finished products. We are very proud that all municipal and local officials, mayors and representatives of local communities listened to us. Since Slovenia can boast of the SLOfit chart, we built our goals precisely on this. This is a programme that has been promoting a healthy way of thinking and living in Slovenia with the help of sports for more than 40 years. We found the programme to be very useful and suitable for implementation in foreign elementary schools, which we succeeded in adapting. We are proud that the students we tested at the beginning of the project improved their achievements in SLOfit by more than 80% in 3 years. Our partners have also implemented and adapted into their schools the morning minute for health, recreational breaks in the fresh air, ecogarden, healthy meals (it is typical for Slovenian schools that students have breakfast/snack and lunch, while at partner schools is not the case, but we achieved a small victory within the project: that the school canteens offer a range of healthy meals and snacks), we made a brochure, videos, activity calendar, brain gym activities, we equipped the walking paths around the schools with signs and exercises, we support the school management when purchasing locally produced food and other products, due to the project we also carry out anti-stress activities at the partner schools, we planted trees for fresh air... With all of the above, we have improved the way of our lives, we have contributed to the awareness that physical and mental health is important for the future of children and young people. We carried out evaluations and discussions, dissemination after each mobility and also when we had meetings with parents, with local authorities, when we planned school activity days. At every school, this takes place at least once a month. At the coordinating school, we connected activity days (which are almost unique among partner schools) with societies, parents, and municipal authorities precisely because of the project, and we prepared joint sports and science days. We will continue this practice in Sl.Vrh, and the partner schools will integrate these connections even more into their work, which the coordinators have shown with the planned activities eg. the school's annual work plans. Also, at the initiative of the project, a new classroom in nature and a new ecogarden are being created next to the coordinator school. We count all of the above as long-term benefits, as we have achieved changes in thinking and actions. Congratulations to all mentors from all partner schools, we learned and achieved a lot. We were connected even online and via telephone during school closures. We helped each other, comforted and also laughed at all the new things. Our project was also supported by the world-famous gymnast Nadia Comaneci, who gave a life changing interview to a Romanian journalist just for our project. Thus, we supplemented the initial motto of the project with her words: BE CHAMPION OF YOUR LIFE.
