We came up with the idea for the project or rather the play »We need to talk« as a response to the social climate we are currently living in. Communication is mostly through the phone or the internet instead of face to face, we are increasingly alienated and we don't address people's distress. No matter what country we are talking about, each has its own victims who have lived through or are living through trauma, abuse, psychological or physical violence and it still isn't talked about (enough). We think this is the right time to address these problems, also in the spirit of the global movement #MeToo, which uncovered sexual harassment in the film industry as well as in politics and other levels of society. We have discussed this with partners and participants when we met at youth and other exchanges, so this idea has been forming for some time, but now we have decided to realize it together. The fact is that a lot of people deal with problems, stereotypes, prejudice, bad experiences from youth or later on and we think it is important that social issues are incorporated into youth exchanges. In this project we will unite young people from different countries and loudly discuss topics, which are usually avoided, in the hope that we encourage someone to seek help, to encourage and address youth to discuss this in their local environment, to develop critical thinking and give knowledge on how to react when their friends are in distress, to give them technical knowledge in the field of psychology through informal learning, through personal stories of other people, where we can reinforce empathy and concern for our fellow humans and love for ourselves, our body, our life - things that young people today lack. We asked actors from the Velenje Theatre to collaborate with us and they will guide the youth through the process of making a play, which will be performed in the House of culture Velenje. The main goals that we have established with them is that the youth learn to listen to and express their feelings, positive as well as negative, that even after returning home they will continue to raise awareness, that they will present their and listen to our good practice in this field and to actually involve them in all aspects of making a play based on their desires and potential (acting, technical assistance - lighting and sound, promotion of the event, active audience, etc.) During the youth exchange the play will develop and adapt according to the ideas and wishes of the youth itself. We will introduce to them the method of ''Living library'', which uses dialogue to actively make aware and educate about values and human rights and it encourages debate about prejudice and stereotypes in society. The books are people that are faced with prejudice and are willing to talk about their experiences. We will focus on three main themes: psychological/physical abuse, harassment in school and stereotypes (religious, sexual and racial discrimination). Situations in individual countries will be compared and the stories will be shared on the stage with the audience. The participants will therefore have to research this and will develop critical thought and think about basic human rights that should be the same for everyone. Because the partner countries are very diverse, we expect good debates and various sociocultural views on this topic. The play will be a combination of all this and we believe it will be emotional and unforgettable. Young people will be involved in planning as well as execution of the exchange and play and through the process will discover themselves as well as the world around them. The project will also include youth with fewer opportunities, from other organizations as well as inside our Slovenian team. On the local level we will cooperate with the Šalek student club and the Institution eMCe plac which is a popular gathering spot for youth from different social environments and where different subcultures and youth involved in organizations meet.
