In times where we are noticing more of nontolerance towards minorities, radicalization of the community, fake news and hate speach, we decided to react and organize this youth exchange. The Pride Parade is the largest and the most important event for LGBTQ+ community. With the Pride Parade, people spread the message of equality, tolerance and openness. Through the project, public would become more familiar and more educated about LGBTQ+ topics and problems which members of this community often encounter. Because of this we would conduct an online campaign which would include making of the video prior to the event, and promotion of tolerance after the event. Practically speaking, we want to show that in our case, organizing this kind of event leads to wider acceptance of this marginalized group. Long-term goal is enhanced support for LGBTQ+ community in Maribor as well as the creation of tradition to repeat the Pride every following year. After successful completion of the Pride Parade, we intend to create the Guide4Pride guide in the form of brochure with explanation of the steps towards implementation of the first Pride in small towns, unifying knowledge and experience of partner organizations.The guide will help volunteers and organizations wishing to organize this kind of event. By implementing the project of Youth Exchange, we want to involve more young volunteers in greater intercultural participation, which will help them increase their self-esteem, the ability to communicate and gain experience in teamwork. We also want to inspire young volunteers to take part in similar events in the future and raise their awareness of the importance of cooperation on their personal growth and development.
