Objectives

The Institute of Veles is the institution for a sustainable way of life and expands knowledge with the holistic experience of everyday life on a farm that operates sustainably. Through the development of the youth international network "Yes to sustainability", the needs of young people and youth workers occurred, which our organization, as one of the initial initiators of this network, addressed through the training "Leader in Me". The project has therefore emerged in response to the increasing request of youth leaders and youth workers as in sustainable villages as in urban areas who want to learn leadership and skills, as well as different methodologies and tools for work on sustainable development and knowledge sharing ecological way of living with young people. The issues that arise within the network are: by the participants: What are the best practices of a sustainable lifestyle? How to present them and transfer them to the local area? How to adjust them to work with young people? What are my skills as a leader? Where am I strong and where do I need support? How do I respond to group dynamics and what methods support this? How can I support young people as a youth worker-leader on many levels? by organizations: What kind of guidance is needed to work with young people and how can we address this need? What methods and tools do we know that encourages this? from the side of the How can a good practice of sustainable lifestyles support youth workers? Through joint cooperation, the 'Leader in Me' education was created, covering the needs of all participating and offering focused research of the issues with its design. The main objectives of the project are: - to equip youth workers who have just gone on this journey with the skills that will strengthen them in their role - to present various methods for working with young people that will be tested by youth leaders and then implemented in their work - enable young youth workers to gain experience with a sustainable environment as an inspiring learning environment for their work - to support participating organizations in joint planning and implementation of projects within the established YTS network. The issue that is alive in young people and has been formed through the participants of YTS projects is: How can we plan our lives to act holistic and sustainable (care for ourselves, for others, nature) and feel satisfied in our relationship with ourselves (personal development), our community (active citizenship) and sustainable livelihood (employability)? A sustainability initiative is a community that is consciously designed to restore the social and natural environment. The four dimensions of sustainability (ecology, economics, social (I) and cultural (WE) aspects) are integrated into a whole approach and offer solutions to the challenges of modern society. We live in a time of strong urbanization of the world. There is a need to revitalize the countryside, new jobs for young people, spread interest in youth work and first-hand experience. Sustainable initiatives offer an opportunity to combine a new and old way of life. In such initiatives, we are reviving, adopting sustainable traditions of our ancestors, preserving our cultural heritage and actively connecting with the local community. The training 'Leader in Me' covers these different dimensions and provides, especially to youth workers with an example of good practice and engagement in it. In the long term, the project will contribute to improving the level of key competencies and skills of youth workers, in particular social skills and emotional intelligence - which are one of the foundations for sustainable action and an important aspect of the labor market, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity and the promotion of an entrepreneurial spirit among future projects that will be formed by sustainable initiatives with young people.
