Since the project period was impacted by the pandemic situation in Europe, we were achieving the goals partially and differently that we had set and expected at the beginning. During the preparation phase of the project, we collaborated with intermediary organisation ADC College in London and Dublin, which we changed for ShipCon. Nevertheless, we succeeded to interconnect the vocational education with current demands of labour market, to improve internship training in English language. The students significantly improved their digital skills, they learned how to work in a multicultural team and to be able to work individually and in a team with other co-workers as well. Moreover, they tried a real life with all pros and cons in pandemic period. The life and work in multicultural environment in other culture and with other religion showed to our students the need of mutual tolerance and understanding. By job shadowing of the teacher of Administration and correspondence (ADK) we wanted to give the opportunity to our colleagues to compare and to innovate our educational process of this subject when using the programme ZAV (a form of teaching the ten-finger tactile method, which is used at schools and also for individual home teaching).
As a school, we place great emphasis on the readiness of all our graduates for a modern European labour market. For us as a secondary vocational school, there is a need to be in constant contact not only with Slovak but also with foreign companies, which enable us to reflect on the needs of the market and to adapt to the school training programme. We want to educate and prepare our students for their future personal and professional life to be ready, competitive and successful in a labour market. Erasmus+ programme offers exceptional opportunities for high schools and to students a unique experience to progress, to learn and to acquire new abilities and skills, that they can't acquire just studying their field of study at school. To be successful in modern European labour market means to be multicultural, experienced, to be aware of differences and unities, but on the other hand to be well prepared by quality training and quality teachers. In our opinion Erasmus+ project is exactly the most suitable programme to promote all these important sides of modern European citizen among students and to give them the chance to develop their personality and to show them their ability and responsibility to change the future.
