Objectives

In the project, we focused on improving the managerial competencies of the school's management, on the development of professional competencies at the level of teachers, but also on the further development of professional employees and cooperating school partners - the employers. We contributed to the goal, that by 2023 at least 50% of teachers of professional subjects will have acquired the necessary level of English language for the integrated teaching of professional subjects, by doing mobilities in foreign language environment that led to development of language skills in English, as well as other languages. The task of teachers - while doing job-shadowing at the partners - was to learn how to use modern tools for increasing the quality and level of VET, using activating methods of teaching and project-based teaching in order to ensure a continuous, broad-spectrum increase of professional competences at all levels - teachers of theoretical teaching, teachers of professional training and students, which were other of our goals. It will help prepare school graduates for better employment in the labor market not only in Slovakia, but also in the entire EU. Last but not least, we wanted to contribute to the individual development of students in areas and topics that are more difficult to access in Slovakia or in our region. In this way, we will contribute to the achievement of the goal that 30% of pupils 3rd or In the 4th year will complete a professional internship abroad. The specific goal of the technical school was the introduction of a new subject Internet of Things in cooperation with the IT Academy and the IT Cluster.

Background

Our consortium (Business Academy Martin, Secondary technical school Martin and Secondary school of trade and services Martin) under leadership of K.A.B.A. Slovensko is successfully progressing in the development of international cooperation and improving the quality of the vocational education and training provided precisely thanks to the implementation of student and teacher mobilities regularly since 2014. It is precisely the activities carried out within the Erasmus+ program projects that enable the members of the consortium to face current but also long-term challenges, such as the rapidly changing demands of employers, weak language skills of otherwise skilled professional educators, insufficient access and weak implementation of innovative methods in teaching or the lack of opportunities for profiled practice for all students and overall cooperation with employers in our region. This project enabled us to continue to fulfill the set goals of the consortium in the school's strategy of internationalization and school development, in particular to fulfill the requirements for employees, for the quality and professional skills and competencies of graduates in various fields. In order to be able to educate students with regard to trends, opportunities, but also threats, it is necessary to educate also teachers - they are the carriers of the transmission of educational procedures and outputs. School management plays a significant role, as it is at this level where the direction of the school is formed, operational and long-term problems are solved and challenges that constantly arise are responded to. And, of course, it also enables the individual development of students by gaining unique experiences in the professional field, as well as personal development thanks to experienced and high-quality partners abroad.
