The project Future in the past is a project about joining the past and the presence in order to point at the situation in the world nowadays. By using a modern technology we will create material, which will combine the past with the presence and the future to invoke anti-nacism and anti-racism mood. All of the participants of this project struggled during The Second World War. A lot of our ancestors went through it and told us many stories, which are not only interesting, but also frightening and full of sadness. There are also many veterans who are still alive and who we annualy meet at the World War II remembrance ceremony. They always say some story and even after many years the stories make us have goosebumps. Not only of how it was, but also what if it happens again. But on the other hand, there are also some funny stories with happy endings, beautiful songs, pictures that we have to keep as a national herritage and let people know about them. Moreover there are still a lot of material things that people saved from the WW II that are worth to be published. In our areas you can attend a lot of monuments which that tourists may even not know about and are worth to see. This was the starting point for our idea. Use all the treasure we have there and find similar ones in other countries that have the same or similar history as we do. In this project there are four participants - Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania and Norway. We would like to join the countries that our students do know much about, so it might be exciting for them to explore something new. When we join the towns of our partners on the map, we create our logo - a broken heart, which is still beating and not giving up. From every school ten students and two accompanying people will visit the one of the partner`s country and create the material. So alltogether there will be four meetings, one in every country hosting thirty - six people. And why the War? As a warning. The situation in the world is very difficult nowadays. There are many terrorist attacks on migrants as it was in Norway in the past or recently in Christchurch. Young innocent people were killed just because of different religion or race. And moreover, a terrorist from Christchurch posted a live video from it which we find immoral and extra-cruel. This is what we have to stop. We have to stop the cruelty, nacism, racism in the world. We have to lead young people, teach them about the cruel history and so they will learn from it and understand that such situation can lead only to war. In this project we want to teach them to tolerate migrants and refugees, to understand that they need our help and that they want to live normal peaceful life as we do. Moreover, it happens that media inform us just about the things that they want us to know. Sometimes they make up the story, write something without proof, or just not write about some serious things. So we want to find out, what is the situation nowadays in our partners`countries and experience it live so we can make our own opinion. While doing it we will create an innovative material for students and also for people interested in history and nowadays situation, because we want to interconnect the past with the presence. We will create a web page where you can come across all the material we will make. And so, you can find there a map of important parts from our partners` regions, stories that will be written in all the languages and also the videos made out of performances that we will do when we meet. Also you will find there beautiful pictures also combining past with the modern time. we will create it half-coloured and half black-and-white to express the idea better. According to the song, we will choose one, that individual verses will be sang in all the partners` languages and in the end combined together. Moreover to that song, we will create a suitable video, because we thing this can even leave bigger message. These created materials will be presented at the performances held at the meetings. All these material will be available on the created webpage also after the end of the project. Everybody will be able to use it and students will be motivated to actualize it even when the project is over. We believe that we will put the song on some channels where anybody can play it anytime. Also the plays that we will create from the stories will be available for any visitor of our webpage who would like to use it to create a drama performance out of it.
The project Future in the past was a project about joining the past and the presence in order to point at the situation in the world nowadays. During preparing the project we wouldn’t even think that our idea will soon become reality as a war in Ukraine. Our partners were countries about which our students are taught at history lessons,, but also not – Slovakia, Poland, Lithuania and Norway. For example about Lithuania and Norway they knew only a little. By using a modern technology we created a material, which combined the past with the presence and the future to invoke anti-Nazism and anti-racism mood. They were mostly photos – collage of war monuments with young people enjoying their lives and posters with antifa and antiracism ideology. All of the participants of this project struggled during The Second World War. A lot of our ancestors went through it and told us many stories, which are not only interesting, but also frightening and full of sadness. There were also many veterans who were still alive and who we annually met at the World War II remembrance ceremony. Unfortunately during realization of our project they were ill and then they passed away. But luckily we met one in Poland and his speech was poignant. He told us not only of how it was, but also what if it happens again. And now we are witnesses of it. Also he was really happy, that young people today are interested in this theme. But on the other hand, there are also some funny stories with happy endings which we were able to gain as well. Some of them we turned into drama. There are also beautiful songs which we sang together. One song from Lithuania we translated into all our languages and into English language and recorded online due to covid situation. At least Slovak met with Polish partner to record it together. Moreover there are still a lot of material things that people saved from the WW II, but we weren’t able to look for them as we were not allowed to visit each other. According to the logo of the project, first idea was that when we join the towns of our partners on the map, we create our logo - a broken heart, which is still beating and not giving up. But our students voted for a different one. From every school ten students and two accompanying people visited the one of the partner`s country and created the material. In Norway Slovakia had 2more students and 1 more teacher – the principal, who is also IT teacher and helped with final products. So, altogether there were three physical meetings in Slovakia, Poland and Norway and one virtual in Lithuania, where were also more students present. And why the War? As a warning. The situation in the world is very difficult nowadays. There are not only many terrorist attacks, but also war in Ukraine or LGBT hate. Lockdown closed young people in their rooms and they became more violent. We could notice that at the attack on two gays in Bratislava or at bringing axe to school in order to kill the classmates and teachers. This theme is always actual. We have to lead young people, teach them about the cruel history and so they will learn from it and understand that such situation can lead only to war. I can say that this project did that and that from survey we know that we were successful. Moreover, it happens that media inform us just about the things that they want us to know. So we wanted to find out, what is the situation nowadays in our partners` countries and experience it live so we can make our own opinion. For example in Norway we experienced Gay Pride and we could see that people there tolerate LGBT without any problems. We created a web page where you can come across all the material we made. And so, you can find there war songs, war stories that were written in English and all the languages and also the videos made out of performance that we did when we met in Poland. Also you can find there beautiful pictures also combining past with the modern time. According to the song, we chose one, that individual verses were sung in all the partners` languages and in the end combined together. Moreover to that song, we created a suitable video, because we thought this can even leave bigger message. These created materials were presented at the performances held at the meetings. All these materials will be available on the created webpage also after the end of the project. Everybody will be able to use it and students will be motivated to actualize it even when the project is over. Also out of the play and the war storied we created an ebook also available on our webpage. The ebook is full of interesting war stories in native languages on the one page and in English on the other.
