Intercultural learning remains a very important topic among young people: it includes the application of knowledge about different cultures, their differences and similarities. The process of becoming more aware of and better understanding one's own culture and other cultures around the world aims to increase international and cross-cultural tolerance and understanding. As Global citizens and European citizens we believe it’s important to find new motivation among young people to discover culture and diversity and learn how important is the intercultural dialogue for the survival of Europe as a multicultural society, where diversity is counted as a core factor and the landmark of the European citizenship. ICL also helps young people recognise the cultural diversity and recognise the common heritage of humanity. It is therefore a key competence in order to read and adapt to the challenges that Europe is now facing, referring in particular to a generic crisis of values and references and to the continuous influx of migrants and refugees. In order to stimulate young people nowadays it is needed a change and innovation in the methodologies and tools that are used in youth work with them. The overall aim of this project was to increase the quality of youth work and bring innovation in it by transferring to youth workers who are working with disadvantaged youth and youngsters in general innovative methods and tools for intercultural learning in order to enhance tolerance and mutual understanding across the European youngsters who do not have many possibilities of mobility and learning other cultures. To achieve this aim we defined these main objectives: - To discover and deepen the concept of Intercultural Learning and its features and identify the link between culture and identity. - To explore the history of youth work and its development together with intercultural dialogue and learning until nowadays. - To provide youth workers new models and approaches of intercultural learning by exploring also consequences and changes of cultures in the different countries in Europe. - To furnish youth workers innovative and alternative educational methods for young people (Storytelling, Graphic Facilitation, Open Space) and use various relevant manuals available in the field for the promotion of intercultural awareness skills. - To contribute to improving the quality of youth work and to training practice in the field of Intercultural learning through innovative, experience-based learning - To stimulate creativity of youth workers through the creation of innovative workshops for young disadvantaged people linked to Intercultural Learning. - To train active multipliers able to intervene at the local level and to develop new events, raising social awareness towards true interculturalism in society and above all in the youth sector.
