Objectives

The ultimate goal that formed the basis of this project and we wanted to realize was to provide education and training unity between the refugee and local students in our school and to realize permanent learning experiences with national-international project activities (eTwinning projects) and computational applications (coding). In the long term, it was to gain the project management skills of teachers and to set an example for schools that have the same problems as us, first locally and then generally. Main project objectives: - cope with a multicultural and linguistically diverse classroom - Bringing immigrant, Syrian students and Turkish students together on the same education platform - Integrating cognitive technologies such as information technology, Web 2.0 tools, coding into the lesson - get to know bilingual schools thanks to international eTwinning projects and online courses and similar applications - creating a common "social identity" and developing a sense of belonging - Developing cultural sensitivity, being able to fight prejudices - be able to learn new tools and approaches in tackling a multicultural and ethnically segregated class - discover and apply effective content, teaching methods and techniques

Background

The number of the Syrian immigrant students in our school was increasing day by day within the European Commission priorities and the International Deals of Turkey after Syria War in 2011. For the reason of increasing cultural and linguistic diversities in our classrooms, we faced to problems of not enabling association in the education and cooperation between students within the indoor and outdoor activities. We have had an "hour of code" activity in our school, the results are so surprising that we witness immigrant pupils not participating in school activities actively have finished all the levels in the hour of code as successfully. Thus, we planned this project on the strength of meeting native and immigrant pupils and the idea that technology is a common language.
