Objectives

Turkey hosts nearly three million refugees and Tuzla hosts nearly four thousand refugees. (more than two thousand are adults.) the inadequacy of the quality of education offered to these refugees paves the way for these individuals become harmful to society. When we consider the war and migration they are exposed to, the difficulties experienced in identifying the educational barriers that come with it appear as an obstacte in raising healthy generations. Our school is the only official school that provides education for adults in Tuzla district of İstanbul province. 220 teachers work at our school. It serves anaverage of 45 thousond people per year. The weak socio-economic levels of the region and our trainees negatively affect our education. Our institution aims to incrense its international quality. Threefore, it needs more qualifred staff.

Background

In the conclusion declaration of the council of the European Union titled strategic framework for cooperation in education and training, among the main goals of education and traininf of 2020; - Realization of lifelong learning and mobility. - Increasing the quality and efficiency of education and training. - Ensuring equality, social cooperation and active citizenship; was the starting point of our Project. An issue that has come to the fore within the scope of globalization and education relations is multicultural education. Multiculturalism means living different cultures together and multinationalism can also be defined as the search for equality to groups representing different subordinates in a society in order to keep these different cultures alive. Public education centers also affer courses on various subjects to people who are refugees in our country. Teachers take part in these courses. İn this respect, they educate people from different cultures. In this context, it is important to determine their point of view. According to provisions that “The education and work of asylum seekers limited to the period of their stay in our country is subject to general provisions” efforts are made to ensure asylum seekers’ right to receive education. (Article 27 of the 2015 population movements regulation.) even in this regard, the ministry of Education is trying to ensure that refugees continue their scholls by making various arrangements.
