Salda Lake, which is located in 60 km west of the city of Burdur, is known as the deepest, cleanest and the clearest lake of Turkey. Beside the cleanliness of the water and the nice view with the turquois colour, the small beaches located in the southwestern and southeastern coasts create opportunity for the area to be used with the purpose of tourism. The lakeside with few residential area around is used as the most important tourism center in the territory. The seven white islands started to be seen with the withdrawal of the water inside the lake add special beauty to the lake. In the last 20 years, there has been a withdrawal in the level of lake around 3-4 meters. The withdrawal still continues. There are almost 10 touristical facilities located near the lake. Although some of these are purification facilities, a part of them are not adequate and do not work. The waste water of the residential areas is given to the streams that feed the lake and this creates a pollution in the lake.
