Objectives

Deteriorating environment, access to healthy and sustainable food and water has become increasingly difficult, and individuals living in especially big cities have tried to return to nature and the countryside. Rapid urbanization, non-nature-friendly production and consumption habits have long exceeded sustainable limits. Every week, 3 million people in the world move from rural areas to cities due to their livelihood problems (IOM 2018). The day of overshoot, which is the day when humanity consumes the 1-year natural resources that our planet offers us, was pulled until August 1 in 2018 (WWF). Unfortunately, for our country, this date is July 11, so we are consuming as if there were 1.9 Earths. In the last 50 years, the biodiversity in the seas has decreased by 80%, and the ratio of the number of people living in cities to the wildlife population has decreased to 97% and 3% (UNEP, 2017). The main problem underlying these problems is an economic understanding that destroys nature, produces and consumes irresponsibly. Ecologically and socially fair forms of production, consumption and sharing, which have been practiced for centuries in Anatolian lands, need to be regained and adopted. The current version of this is called the prosumer economy. The prosumer economy has adopted the logic of producing and creating value while consuming. It is a model that brings together the “manufacturer” who produces fair and respectful to nature, and the “producers” who examine where the product they buy come from, whether it harms the environment, and pay attention to using more local products. Based on these problems, we carried out the mobility of our "Production Economy Network" project in Izmir between 8 - 14 June 2022. The main purpose of our project is to contribute to the efforts to create a sustainable economy and local development model through the established network. In addition, sub-goals; - The Prosumer Economy Network, a first in its field, was established with 7 institutions and 42 participants from different European countries - Examples of good practices were shared with representatives of different institutions and different approaches were gained, knowledge, skills and competencies of youth workers operating in this field were developed. - Nature-friendly production methods, local development models and living cultures are ensured to be seen in their place. - Examples of good practice on the subject were disseminated and the increase in role model practices was encouraged. - The established network has been activated and the first steps have been taken to develop more comprehensive projects and businesses, and efforts have been made to develop concrete projects and collaborations for the future. - Studies have been initiated to spread a model that adopts fair sharing, production and consumption from Turkey.
