Because of the war which started in Syria in 2011, Turkey has been exposed to a dense refugee influx. Gaziantep, the border town with Syria, is the main city among the cities where refugees are densely populated. Hence, today there are about 500.000 Syrian refugees in Gaziantep. Together with their coming, some kinds of problems have started to reveal during the use of areas such as social and substructure. As the needs for substructure and social areas are planned, since the available population is taken into consideration, that so many people start to share these communal areas have brought some kinds of problems together. For instance, the most important ones are that the rate of water usage and need for it has increased in cities together with the population but this need cannot be met necessarily; socio-cultural differences in the usage of sewage, parks, hospitals, transportation vehicles, at the stage of adapting to a different country and society in refugees, various problems coming out at social adaptation due to lack of sense of belonging and becoming world citizen; and in parallel with all these, that the need for a methodological framework program appear in institutions and foundations which provide service, present source and usage areas to the refugees in the face of problems they experience. In this context, the necessity to create a special sensitivity awareness about the use of these services and sources that our country provide for both her own citizens and Syrian refugees at minimum level, without wasting, carefully and consciously has come out. Since this will be realised with the union under the frame of common humanitarian values among people who share the geography commonly during the use of common usage areas and sources, in the context of our project, we foresee to do an adult training that is innovative, beneficial, spreadable, sustainable and that can be a sample about the use of sources and common humanitarian values; and to reach much more people together with final beneficiaries of our project targeting to reach 1500 people directly through trainings, campaigns and other project activities. Our target mass is adult refugees in Gaziantep, as to partner countries Spain, Portugal, Lithuania, both Syrian and other refugees. Our project will give a reference to the attempt “Europe using sources efficiently” which is one of 7 attempts that have to be put into practice under the title of EU 2020 objectives and priorities and to sustainable growth: at the point of using the sources more efficiently, usage of water resources more efficiently by standing on a green and competitive economy, the conscious use of sewage, the use of sources efficiently by refugees and enabling their indirect contribution to economy. In the scope of our project that gains the beyond nation qualification with the joint studies to be conducted in Spain, Portugal, Lithuania, the partner countries experiencing the similar problems with us, first of all, the institutions and foundations working related to this topic will be visited and an analysis report will be prepared by collecting the problems these institutions and foundations experience through open-ended questionnaire content. In the direction of this analysis report, a training module will be prepared focused on “awareness and awakening” and targeting to improve the sense of belonging in adult refugees to the society they live in, to make them adapt humanitarian moral and material sources, and most importantly to enable all these to become permanent, improvable, spreadable and sustainable. As approach, “Blended Learning”, helping training practice to be maintained both face-to-face and through web together with the developing technology, “Interactive Learning”, “Webinar”, and “Informal Learning” approaches will be used. Besides, in the scope of the project, a methodological program will be formed by determining the shapes and elements of various methods to organise the training process and pedagogical technologies that may be beneficial to conduct extracurricular activities. All methods to be developed will be creative, new and original ones which have not been used by other institutions and foundations before at the adaptation of refugees. Public Awareness Campaigns will be one of our significant activities for the issues such as creating awareness as targeted in this project, efficient use of sources, adapting to becoming world citizen. By our 24 month project, our most significant results will be reaching the targeted point at the point of “awareness and awakening” while common areas are used by refugees such as social and substructure areas, water, public transportation vehicles, parks, hospitals, schools and enabling refugees to be individuals who have adapted to the society, have had the sense of belonging to the country where they are living and the world on the way of becoming world citizen by gaining the terminal adult behaviours.
Since refugee is a problem facing not only Turkey but all countries of the world today and will continue in the future, it is one of our highest goals that we want to achieve by contributing to the international solution proposals and training programs for some of the problems experienced at this point, thanks to this international project. As a matter of fact, our reality of living together has become more evident day by day, as many of the Syrian refugees do not want to return to their countries even if the war is over, and the number of these people is increasing day by day through new migrations and births. In line with this reality, producing various interactive and active trainings for Syrian refugees to have the awareness, perception and skills of Turkish, European and World citizens in the use of our resources and common areas in the future we live and will live together, to create awareness on these issues, to give refugees a sense of belonging; its conservation and conscious use; It has been among our most important goals to ensure that the interests of the society are observed while using these resources. While doing all this, to explain that refugees are permanent in this community and to ensure that they adopt it, and to ensure that people who are members of a society at this point observe the interests of the whole society while benefiting and using the services offered with a sense of belonging, common human values and resources (such as social areas, water, hygiene, sewerage). A sustainable training module has been created primarily for local municipalities (especially for continuing education centers) for the efficient and effective use of. In addition, increasing the capacity of the institutions that serve in establishing the future we live and will live in, in terms of using our resources and common areas in accordance with the rules and at a minimum level, has been among our most important goals. At the same time, guiding the motivation and awareness of national and transnational institutions and organizations that have faced the same problems with effective access and creating international synergy is one of our most important goals that we want to achieve.
Due to the war that started in Syria in 2011, approximately 500,000 Syrian refugees came to Gaziantep, our city. With their arrival, some problems began to appear during the use of areas such as social and infrastructure. While planning the needs of the infrastructure and social areas in the city, the planning was made according to the current population, and the fact that many people later shared these areas of use brought along some problems in this regard. For example, the increase in the use and need of water with the population in cities, but this need cannot be met sufficiently; Various problems in the use of common areas such as sewerage, parks, hospitals, transportation vehicles are some of them. Some of these problems are wasting water, throwing foreign materials into the sewers, not allowing the sick, elderly, disabled, pregnant women in public transportation vehicles or not allowing others to sit in the seats next to refugees, not following the rules in institutions such as hospitals and schools, and not paying attention to hygiene. In this context, it has become necessary to create a special sensitivity awareness about the careful and conscious use of these services and resources, which our country provides to both its citizens and Syrian refugees, at a minimum level and without wastage. Since this will be achieved by the people who share the country's geography in a common way during the use of common areas and resources, within the framework of common human values, we aimed to create an innovative, beneficial, expandable, sustainable, exemplary adult education about the use of common human values and resources. In this context, to provide refugees with world citizenship awareness and a sense of belonging; conservation and conscious use of resources; It has been among our most important goals to ensure that the interests of the society are observed while using these resources. The starting point of these results is that many of the Syrian refugees do not want to return to their countries even if the war is over, and the reality of living together becomes more evident day by day, as the number of these people increases day by day through new migrations and births. In line with this reality, it has emerged as an important need to raise awareness and awareness levels for Syrian refugees to have the awareness, perception and skills of citizens of Turkey, Europe and the world in the use of our resources and common areas in the future we live and will live together. With our project, we aimed to reach and win over a person who gained a sense of belonging from a refugee who was a victim of war, revived his sources of self-confidence and motivation, and adapted to the community he lives in, the processes and rules. On the other hand, during our project preparation works, when we met with the Gaziantep Water and Sewerage Administration officials working under the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, which provides water and sewerage services in Gaziantep, they stated that sewerage failures occur frequently in the neighborhoods where refugees live, and that refugees throw many foreign substances into the sewers. They talked about the fact that they have many campaign materials in their hands to raise awareness of refugees while they are struggling with this problem, they have many opportunities and they can be. However, they stated that they wanted to cooperate with the University due to the lack of an academic-based approach on this issue. They talked about the fact that they have many campaign materials in their hands to raise awareness of refugees while they are struggling with these problems, they have many opportunities and they can be. However, they stated that they wanted to cooperate with the University due to the lack of an academic-based approach on this issue. Therefore, our project was also carried out due to the need to improve the capacities of institutions providing services to refugees in the fields of social and infrastructure. In today's world, since refugee is becoming a universal problem that gains more reality with each passing day, it is an important problem not only for Turkey but also for all countries of the world. and our project has been made to meet these needs.
