Objectives

This project was conceived through an identified need by schools, and it aimed to support school staff to provide pupils with a world class 'inclusive' education supporting the challenges in schools/communities of equity, diversity, and inclusion. All of this led to marking these objectives as a priority: - increase the competences, skills and confidence of teaching staff to improve their Inclusion Agenda in schools - improve schools' understanding to develop 'more multicultural learning environment' - provide better support for migrants/refugees within their schools/communities

Background

Based on the New Welsh Curriculum, we were aware that Welsh schools' aim during 2017-21 would be to implement the new curriculum focussing on leadership, professional learning, excellence, and INCLUSION/EQUITY within a self-improving system. In UK there had been a 40% increase in reported hate crime since 2016 and radicalisation and extreme right movements were behind a high proportion of them. This would require a high-quality education workforce committed to continuous learning for all, enabling the teaching profession to deliver through inclusive practices, shared for our learners, schools & education system. The project Inclusion in Action was our input towards it.
