The objectives of this project were: 1. To support and promote mobility as an effective method in developing skills and competences amongst students and staff within City of Glasgow College. 2. To provide accessible mobility opportunities to engage disadvantaged learners and support the employment aspirations of all participants. 3. To increase the foreign language, digital literacy and intercultural awareness of our students and staff, within a work-based learning environment. 4. To develop a project model that will support the grown of internationalisation through mobility across all 4 Faculties of City of Glasgow College.
We used internationalisation through geographic mobility to provide inspiring experiences for our students, to increase the attainment, achievement and overall satisfaction of students involved in mobility. By facilitating students through work-based learning opportunities abroad, we aimed to broaden the horizons of student participants. We exposed them to the vast and diverse employment opportunities within their industries, not bound by geographic boundaries. The long term aim of this project was to have a framework that provides the College with multiple, cross-faculty mobility opportunities for students and staff to sustain the development of our people, our organisation and our curriculum. Using the feedback from the project evaluation activities we will showcase the benefits of geographic mobility and how they develop competences and experiences of staff and students. This data will also be considered when developing/updating operational plans with the key strategies of the College: Student Experience, People & Culture, Corporate Development, Systems Integration and Sustainability.
