Objectives

The overall impact was to improve the level of VET skills of the students and provide CDP for our staff, educators and teachers/trainers who were involved in the project activity. By implementing the project we wanted to help increase the quantity and quality of training opportunities in professional VET sectors and increase the number of KA1 participants in partners’ countries and supply and support the local economy. We wanted to provide invaluable learner experience to our students and gain an insight of other VET providers across the EU for our staff. The aim was to gain new and innovative skills through their involvement the KA1 programme. We targeted a number of VET sectors, Business Administration, Travel and Tourism, Engineering, Hospitality and Catering, Sports. Staff mobilities were planned for 1 week to broaden staff knowledge on their VET specialisation, Quality Assurance system, VET Training and Management to study methods used by established FE organisations management, QA systems and educational systems. We wanted the students to achieve international work experience, learn how a company is structured and operates in another EU country, obtain new knowledge and skills relevant to their field of study and improve basic language skills. We had hoped that the students would strengthen their independence as individual adults, meet and collaborated with people from other cultures and learn about a new country. Glasgow Clyde hoped to gain significant benefits including new training tools, knowledge, upgrade in curricula, international exposure, established an international network, provided students with valuable experience and new project management experience. Students and trainers transferred their experience and skills across the college and educational community. Students gained an international work experience or exchange abroad, many learnt how a company is structured and operates in another EU country, they applied existing knowledge, gained new knowledge and skills relevant to their field of study and improved Language skills. In addition, being exposed to other EU countries as EU students strengthened their independence as individuals, they met and collaborate with people from other cultures.

Background

We applied for the VET mobility to provide enhanced training to Glasgow Clyde College Students and Staff and provide a range of Training Opportunities to cover many aspects of VET Training through opportunities to learn in another European Country and gain experience and qualifications towards their studies and gain their SQA Certificate through working and training in another environment. We worked closely with other VET colleges and adult training providers to establish specific learning arrangements and assessment materials, much of which was available on-line and on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which opened doors to a more flexible learning approach to our KA1 Mobilities (much of the current assessments being VLE). Further VLE materials were developed and integrated into the programme of learning, ensuring the students achieved the credit they deserved with no interruptions to their training year.
