The project was run in order to give participants on various teacher of English training programmes run by LT&D, experience of working in a context abroad, in a monolingual context which cannot easily be replicated in the UK and to give an insight into educational culture abroad to inform their teaching in the UK, when catering for individuals from these countries. These training programmes were: -Certificate in English for Teachers of ESOL & Literacy (Short programme). -Certificate in Teaching ESOL (130 hour entry level programme). Participants on these programmes benefitted from opportunity to attend short two-week mobilities to partner vocational secondary schools in Slovakia and Hungary. In these, they contributed to the curriculum for English teaching group lessons under supervision and carrying out 1:1 tuition with learners. -Diploma in Education & Training (1- 2 year programme) -Diploma in Teaching ESOL (2-3 year programme), -Apprenticeships in Learning & Development Participants in these qualifications were afforded the opportunity to attend either the shorter placements outlined above or Erasmus Pro placements of 9-12 months. 2 new partner receiving organisations were secured for the purposes of ErasmusPro placements.
The project was applied for as a reiteration of former projects, which had followed similar activities. Further partners were also added as a way of increasing impact as the model had been established. The main reason was to further internationalise Genius Solutions trading as Languages Training & Development (LT&D) as a training provider and cross-fertilise approaches to the training of the English Language. The project ran alongside a KA2 project, where Genius Solutions and 2 of the receiving organisations exchanged practice, visiting each other's establishments and organising a series of CPD events for experienced teachers of English.
