The notion was to provide participants from diversified backgrounds the opportunity to accelerate their learning status in moving through the vocational ladder and on and into the top-tier of learning (i.e. from participation, to performance, to excellence), through applied training in European countries. Wider objectives included access and opportunity for participants to gain and share similar experiences to those in specialist sports education (in which VET education systems provided the foundation for) that showcased the interrelation from foundation to excellence in a practical context. The project targeted participants that were excelling in both their VET studies and performance levels within their respective education fields to experience more specialist opportunities in sports companies based abroad. . More specific objectives for participants centred on creating (i) individualised programmes based on personal development (ii) applying developmental practices for technical and tactical progression and (iii) generating activities for participants to strive to improve throughout the mobility visit period that assisted with their sport, educational, cultural, personal and social development.
This project was based around Sport England's sports development continuum model that provided unique opportunities for participants accessing educational provision in formal, non-formal and specialist formats. Its intention was to unite the various performance abilities in supporting the development of participants that were engaged in sporting pathways and apply this within a European setting/context. Participants were selected on their educational, college and sporting commitments and abilities, with the mobility work based placement experience providing both opportunities to showcase their skills and capabilities in addition to creating opportunities to reduce skill-gaps. The focus on 'late developers' particularly for formal and non-formal educational participants extended opportunities for these participants to experience high-quality sports experiences as those in higher levels of provision (including international settings). The intention centred on participants returning from the mobility visit with increased knowledge and awareness on their career prospects within a UK-based and International context, a desire to consider to further and higher education and a motivation for progression to reach their maximum potential.
