Objectives

We intended to support the personal development of 20 staff members through funding training courses to build personal and professional competences in Europe. The European experience of the participant will be enhanced through course attendance in another culture with its own work practices, language, behaviours, attitudes & norms with European counterparts from a range of countries therefore further developing communication & team building skills whilst networking. This will be invaluable for broadening each participant’s intercultural awareness. The activities above aimed to support the following competences: - continue to build staff competences: increasing knowledge & skills relevant to vocational specialisms, fostering innovation in teaching, learning new teaching methods & improving the quality of our training and learning provision. - we will improve the quality of our European programme by building our promotional and dissemination activities to cascade European experiences and best practices using new web-based technologies and new social media that can reach wider audiences of learners, staff, partners and the community;

Background

We applied to further develop our European activities offered to both staff and students to directly contribute to the Strategic Priorities of our College as defined in our Three Year Strategic Plan: the funding and support ensures that we support our learners and staff to address local labour market requirements, targeting skills gaps and developing enterprising solutions and resources to contribute to our economy and a cohesive society. Our European Development Plan (EDP) strongly reflects our College’s Strategic priorities, and aims ultimately to make a difference to our learners, improving their employability prospects in the European labour market by providing opportunities to enhance their skills and competences.
