We wanted to develop relationship with key creative and scientific centres in Netherlands, Denmark and Ireland. We planned to do this via trips to sites to organise sharing sessions with our hosts to discuss practice and methods. We wanted to then share our experiences with Scottish colleagues and planned to disseminate findings from trips via a variety of methods, including writing blogs, social media, workshops and writing training materials. The key areas we wanted to improve were staff and management competencies. The project was also planned to help develop our proven management skills in running an Erasmus+ project. The staff competencies would be developed by expanding adult educators’ knowledge of resources and methods used to engaged adult learners in STEM learning. The staff would develop their competencies in developing and delivering a cross border initiative, creating sustainable networks of STEM practitioners.
Learning Link Scotland is an intermediary organisation, supporting third sector adult learning. Our purpose is to ensure adult learning organisations work together to create a successful, dynamic and forward thinking Scotland. Our mission is to support, promote, represent and develop adult learning in Scotland. We also support collaborative working across the EU and have led one project and been a partner on another Erasmus+ Key Action 2 project. We sit on the European Agenda for Adult Learning (EAAL) Impact Forum for Scotland and, like the EAAL identify a need to significantly increase adult participation in formal, non-formal and informal learning whether to acquire work skills, for active citizenship, or for personal development and fulfilment. Specifically, we created this project to contribute to improving the governance of adult learning through better coordination between policy areas, enhanced effectiveness and relevance to needs of society. In Scotland we work towards fulfilling Adult Learning Strategy for Scotland and the STEM strategy for education and training. This project was created to contribute in developing the adult education workforce in Scotland to enable them to work towards fulfilling each strategy.
