Objectives

Together with our partners we did an initial research about recycling in our countries and communities where we live. We found a common problem which we want to target – lack of awareness of young people about recycling. Thus, we decided to organise Youth Exchange that could bring all of us together and we could find the best solutions to improve this issue. Recycling is not very widespread in the world and it does not have the same social significance across all the EU and non-EU countries. This youth exchange aimed to tackle this problem among young people while promoting recycling. Furthermore, chosen participants from different backgrounds and different countries gave an opportunity to share their own experience and the experience of their countries in recycling. A rising quality of life and high rates of resource consumption patterns have had an unintended and negative impact on the environment - generation of wastes far beyond the handling capacities of local governments and agencies. Cities and towns in lots of countries are now grappling with the problems of high volumes of waste, very high costs of waste management, the disposal technologies and methodologies, and the impact of wastes on the local and global environment. Recycling is one of the best ways to have a positive impact on the world in which we live. During the exchange the participants learned and compared recycling methods to “traditional” ways of waste management. The objectives of this youth exchange were: - to animate the participants' creativity and the ability to transform concepts into innovative actions; - to create art works by using waste materials during creative workshops; - to get ideas about reusing the waste materials and create new useful objects - to raise awareness about current problem of environmental and importance of recycling; - to develop the interactive curriculum about recycling, designing and customising products from waste materials and rubbish; - to support participants in the acquisition of learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and competencies) with a view to improve their personal development, their involvement as considerate and active citizens in society; - to notably enhance participants’ English language competencies; - to promote non-formal learning and cooperation in the field of youth; - to develop a sense of European citizenship and identity; - creating a multi-cultural and safe environment; - assuring freedom of speech and expression of individuals coming from marginalised backgrounds; - analysing the strong and weak points of different daily actions; - give life to future synergies within the Erasmus+. The "Reuse and Reduce" project aimed to enable all the participants from UK, Georgia , Armenia, Turkey and Italy to act as informed citizens regarding the EU dynamics. It developed their creativity and sense of entrepreneurship, prepared them to take part in discussions about political, social and environmental matters, communicate with people from different backgrounds.
