Objectives

The project has been created through discussion and ideas from a previous project we have been engaged in: You, Me, Refugee. This was a youth exchange, which took place in Spain with a group of young people from the UK and Spain. The groups wanted to create a project in the UK that was inclusive to young people with fewer opportunities and also engage local migrant groups and refugees living across the Black Country area. We feel its essential at this time of faction and discord to bring a sense of unity, understanding and collaboration within our communities and especially amongst our young people as future leaders and visionaries. We have found that there is a need for young people to have a better understanding of the cultural and social situations in countries other than their own. With this in mind we decided to work with our partner organisation in Spain to help build the knowledge and empathy of the young people around refugees and immigrants in the current climate. We feel that a sport is a common connection between young people no matter where you are from or what your circumstances are. Therefore we will focus on inclusion, integration and intercultural learning through sports.
