Objectives

The Erasmus+ RESOLVE: West programme was designed in a pre-COVID and pre-war in Europe world and in turn had objectives that reflected life in a pre-2020 world. RESOLVE: West built upon 4 KA1 projects delivered between 2018 and 2019: RESOLVE: East; RESOLVE: Reconciliation throu Youth; RESOLVE: Play and RESOLVE: Sport. RESOLVE: West aimed to build upon the successes of these early Erasmus + RESOLVE youth exchange projects to provide the skills, understanding & inter-cultural experience a young person needs to overcome personal conflicts, while also developing professional skills to resolve their own social conflicts on a community-level+. The project recognised that alongside the migration crisis, is a rise in anti-Antisemitism, racism, xenophobia & antimigrant sentiment across Europe, creating a new form of social & community conflict, not experienced in Europe for over 70 years. Stereotypical thinking & tendency to blame minorities for negative social phenomena such as unemployment, crime or loss of welfare benefits is very common in the communities settled by ethnic minorities, as well as where there are few, creating further social & community-level conflicts. The original project application recognised that since Brexit, the UK had experienced a rise in hate crimes against minorities & an increase in racist language, behaviour & thought processes especially amongst influential bodies like the popular press, with limited action by responsible bodies to address this. The original application also recognised that very often Community leaders lack the experience & knowledge to manage local conflict in the UK and partner countries of this kind. With a lack in skill-sets, partners aimed to engage with young people, our community leaders of tomorrow, to develop the skills they needed to manage community conflict before it increases to the level of every day violent conflict, through this project. Mobilising the expertise developed through RESOLVE: East/other RESOLVE youth exchanges and through the ongoing work of the RESOLVE: Network, Asfar and our partners aimed to address this conflict, while developing the community leaders of tomorrow. In the Caucasus community disengagement & ongoing-war effects still prevents social cohesion & social inclusion among ethnic minorities, esp. Christians & Muslims, there existing a real fear of new Russian imperialism (which since the application's submission in 2019, now has grown since the arrival of 'Russian peacemakers'). With the arrival of conflict in Europe since the 1990s, as well as continued results of issues such as the Refugee Crisis ensured division & misunderstanding among communities and increase poverty caused by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The next generation of Community Peacebuilders, who are now actively required in Europe and neighbouring countries must to be prepared to address social division, to ensure the rejuvenation of their communities & the social cohesiveness necessary to prevent long term conflicts. Key Objectives 1. Adapted Sports techniques to resolve conflict within their communities & about Social Action & Citizenship 2. 85 Young people would learn about different societies to promote Social Tolerance & fight against xenophobia & conflicts 3. RESOLVE will bring 4 country groups over 4 youth exchanges together with a history of conflict whether social or political together to engage & build mutual understanding through the power of Sport 4. Develop minimum of 5 wider non-cognitive skills amongst participants 5. 15 Participants in each country would design & launch their own Conflict Resolution project 6. 85 Young people would develop transferable employability skills which they can use in the work place; within their communities; & beyond. 7. continued developed of the RESOLVE: Network youth wing.
