Objectives

Radical and extremist ideas unfortunately attract young people with migrant background who are marginalized and segregated from the society they were born/brought into. Permeating alienation, exclusion and marginalization make this young people vulnerable to violence-incident ideologies which could be spread rapidly through new communication tools. In the same time because of terrorism and radicalisation, there is much stereotyping of religions, which in turn is bringing about renewed upsurges of hate crimes and hate speech motivated by racism, xenophobia or intolerance of opinions, beliefs or religion. This results in clash of beliefs and cultures and rising populism xenophobia and Islamophobia across European communities. In addition, one of the arguments used by violent extremists in recruiting young people is that islamophobia is increasing. Thus, these two negative phenomena appear to feed on each other, those multi-dimensional challenges require multifaceted response simultaneously. According to EC and also our organization, preventive action is the best way to combat violent radicalisation and extremism rather than reactive measures. Countering extremism and radicalisation within the EU can only work with integration and social inclusion. Youth workers play a crucial role in empowering vulnerable young people’s resilience, and preventing them from feeling marginalised and turning away from society towards radicalisation. youth workers and youth organizations ought to be pioonering contributors of integration and intercultural dialogue as they are key in ‘‘promoting common values, inclusive education, and the European dimension of teaching’’ aiming at ensuring that young people understand the importance of and adhere to common values, as well as at strengthening social cohesion and contributing to fighting the rise of extremism, populism, xenophobia. TC gathered youth workers, leaders and artists to explore innovative and artistic approaches for preventing radicalism and fighting islamophobia via promoting tolerance and inter- religious and intercultural dialogue via artistic and creative tools in youth work. The objectives of the project were: *To improve the skills, attitudes and competences of participants for transferring the common fundamental values of our society particularly to the hard to reach young people *to develop youth workers skills and competences on how to use creative tools for preventing violent radicalisation of migrants and refuguees *To developnew partnerships and relations and exchange of best practices for new projects to fight islamophobia and radicalization * to create space for exchange of current situation in partner’ countries regarding radicalization and islamophobia, share common challenges and needs *to motivate and inspire youth-workers on their challenging work * to promote Erasmus+ Programme, presenting it as a useful instrument for young people, youth workers, NGOs and all kind of stakeholders in their precious work
