Objectives

The objectives of this project were designed to continue to enrich students and apprentices vocational skills and knowledge in their own fields and to provide opportunities for them to experience a different culture and develop an awareness of self. In addition, to provide the opportunity for staff to become aware of the delivery and organisation of their own vocational specialisms in another country and in so doing enrich their personal professional skills and knowledge for the benefit all. This to be applied in particular in preparing students and apprentices for employment in a global world and its related economies.

Background

This project was the continuation of working relationships with Lincoln College's established partners and with the inclusion of a new partner - HTL Hallein Austria. Work with partners, Alfa College, The Netherlands, Richard von Weisacker, Germany, Krieshandwerkerscaft, Coesfeld Germany has been successfully undertaken for in excess of 15 years. In turn Lincoln College has hosted students and apprentices from each of the three partners for their specified placements. Following a successful project in 2019 the bid included the continued liaison with the Carpentry Department at Alfa College. The inclusion of a new partner was to extend the portfolio of vocational opportunities for staff and students.
