Objectives

Even though volunteering activities (formerly in the form of a European Voluntary Service and now as a European Solidarity Corps) have been existening for more than 20 years, we have been increasingly experiencing difficulties in working with different consortia in implementing meaningful volunteer projects. These difficulties are due to various reasons and are of a different nature, on the one hand, they are related to the different project management phases and on the other are concentrated in the management of volunteers involved. For example, many organizations are still unaware of the practical aspects of implementing high-quality volunteer projects, have difficulty maintaining high quality through all stages of assessing specific needs to finalizing and measuring the impact of their projects, as well as tackling challenges and changing realities and more. As far as the management of volunteers is concerned, there are particular difficulties in working with young people such as demotivation, earlier project termination, communication difficulties, planning of a balanced service-learning program, etc. We should not forget that there are also new organizations that have a desire but have no experience in implementing volunteer projects to date. Experience has shown that a successful and quality volunteer project requires knowledge, experience and active involvement of many stakeholders both from the supporting / sending and hosting organizations. With the proposed “Volunteering from A to Z” project, we aim to improve and enhance the quality of the implementation of volunteer projects with a focus on ESC and thus ensure that the activities of these projects are achieved more effectively for both the main actors (volunteer, host organization, supportive organization, mentor, supervisor) as well as for the other affected - target group, local volunteers, local community, etc. We want to achieve clarity, understanding and successful implementation of all steps in delivering high quality, meaningful and balanced service-learning volunteer projects by partner organizations as well as provide space and opportunity for networking and collaboration in which organizations can help and support themselves during the realization of their current and future volunteer projects.
