Objectives

Young people’s lifestyles are so immersed in technology, that it is not an option as to whether youth work should use social and digital media. With this project we want to embrace the use of digital and social media in youth work in order to make youth work services more relevant to the young people. One of the expected achievements is to make communication with young people easier and more immediate. This way, we can involve even young people who would normally have no contact with youth services. In some cases using social media, particularly for communication purposes, is expected to increase face-to-face time with young people because it will increase attendance. The training course aims at the exploration of digital tools in youth work. The participants will have the opportunity to try in practice tools they can use in their everyday youth work practice. They will acquire/ improve their skillset to communicate with the young people and to inform the young people with contemporary apps and tools. They will explore the possibilities of online counselling, support apps for young refugees, assistive apps for young people with disabilities, gaming, and coding for girls. They will improve their knowledge on digital tools for validation of learning (their own learning and that of their target groups). Main aims: (A) To build on the capacity of partner organisations and participants to provide Digital Youth Work. (B) To promote Digital Competence and Media Literacy among the individual participants (youth workers, youth trainers) (C) To use Information Society Technology (IST) and Information Communication Technologies (ICT) to develop the quality of youth work. Specific objectives: 1. To reach a consensus on a working definition of digital youth work. 2. To be trained in digital tools to facilitate the needs of young people with fewer opportunities. 3. To discover ways in which the youth organisations can use IST and ICT in daily youth work (information, communication, councelling, campaigning, advocacy, participation, competence development, etc). 4. To understand the potential of coding for girls and young women. 5. To learn how to use media and social media for the dissemination of youth work. 6. To cultivate a critical and reflective attitude towards the internet & social media. 7. To make solid partnerships under Erasmus + programme. 8. To promote the European digital tools for validation and recognition of non-formal learning.
