The policy of garbage usage are different in many countries, in some countries people are just collecting it as trash and throw it in the big territories and in other countries people are collecting in different trash bins and then recycle it.Climate change is a significant and urgent challenge for young people. The world needs leadership on climate change and young people are stepping up to the challenge! young people are playing a key role both in the intergovernmental climate change negotiations and in their communities – helping all of us change the way we live. The involvement of youth in combating climate change is crucial and many are already taking action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to increase climate change resilience The garbage problem is very important issue in Cyprus, where the governmental bodies are trying to solve in governmental level but still it is difficult as the people don't have the culture of gathering the trash in different trash bins and recycle it for them and for their surrounding. They are gathering the whole trash in the same plastic pocket and throw in the main big trash near their buildings. In Cyprus there are recycling factories only for glass, metal, plastic and paper. At the same time the people are still throwing the trash all together without dividing them into glass, paper, food and plastic. They are not used to the idea that they can recycle it for their houses and even save/earn money from the trash. Filodasikos Syndesmos Agrou together with it's 7 international partners is seeking to implement a youth exchange title "Youth for Climate Action NOW" in Cyprus bringing the attention of the population of Cyprus to the garbage usage and policy. We will take the village of Agros as an example and together with the partners from industry and government implement a waste sorting system. We will make the population sort their waste and the industry and state transport this waste. This will be a pilot project, where we hope to have a great impact all over Cyprus and other countries, participating in the project. Our aim is to empower young people to advocate and to campaign for developing garbage usage in EU countries , entering into dialogue and becoming a bridge with the population and the factories for creating the tradition of using and recycling the garbage in the participating countries. Another aim of the project is to create a pilot project with a model of working mechanism for gathering and garbage sorting in different trash bins so that the working factories will be able to gather the trash and recycle it . The objectives of the project are: - To promote the culture of collecting and separating waste in everyday life - To raise awareness of population about recycling the trash and connect them with the factories of recycling - Boost youth participation, youth for youth actions and youth initiatives; - Create a pilot project in a country with nearby zero waste recycling to inspire all other communities. - Support young people to enter into dialogue with local authorities, local people and participate in the decision-making process about garbage using policy; - Raise the capacity of our partner organisations for advocating and campaigning about environmental local problems; 2019 marks a special year in the history of global climate action: It marks the year when the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) first came into force. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the entry into force, we want to delivered remarks on this important milestone and encouraged greater ambition and action for a sustainable future. While we’ve made enormous progress in 25 years, the world is still running behind climate change. Today, the urgency to address climate change has never been greater.
