In youthwork, the concept of LEARNING CONTEXT is rarely something on a foreground, and yet understanding it is essential for creating learning environments in which every youngster can thrive. After discussion with our partners, we realized that in a learning experience we often prioritize content over context. One of the downsides of this is that our youth workers often face the challenge in reaching out to their desired target groups in a way that is in tune with each youngsters UNIQUE NEEDS AND SKILLS, especially the ones with fewer opportunities. We see learning context as the situation in which something is learned, a situation that can impact how something is learned or facilitated. The situation is characterized by creating a certain atmosphere, use of space and resources and the personalized style of the facilitator who takes into account the type of the activity and different needs and learning styles of people who take part in it. We all saw the needs in the organisations: ENGAGING YOUNG PEOPLE while creating UNIQUE LEARNING EXPERIENCES that are based on youthworkers' and young people's SPECIFIC NEEDS AND SKILLS and that will also SOCIALLY INCLUDE all youth in their community We concluded that they would benefit from a new approach that would focus on the context of the learning in two ways: A. the PERSONALIZED STYLE OF THE YOUTH WORKER (self-awareness, self-expression and leadership) B. using consciously atmosphere, space and resources while DESIGNING LEARNING EXPERIENCE. Therefore Points of You TC aimed at supporting the development of competences of youth workers on how to consciously use context to create engaging learning environment. The objectives: 1. The youth workers to become familiar with the importance of context in learning and use it to reach out to young people 2. The youth workers to gain essential facilitation skills to effectively lead themselves and the youth they work with 3. The youth workers to gain competences to design engaging learning environment tailor-made for their target groups 4. The partner organisations acquire new innovative tools and approaches in order to contribute to capacity building for quality youth work in their organisation and beyond.
