Our project carries the three letter “HRE” for Human Rights Education as the overall objective. Dealing with active citizenship, the future of the European Union and the challenges for Europe in the 21st century are very important for the personal development of the young people to grow as European citizens. HRE fits perfectly into this approach. Our project focusses strongly on HRE while including the European dimension, the intercultural learning aspect and the empowerment and personal development of the young people. This project is also a committed learning by doing approach for our organizations to go deeper into HRE, to gain experiences, to learn from and with each other and to develop more expertise. The young participants have initiated the project, will develop it further and experience a highly self-directed project. The project focuses on various aspects of HRE to bring awareness, get knowledge, train ones’ own behavior and reassess ones’ own attitude towards human rights. Thus, the project will work on different levels to achieve a coherent learning experience. All the activities and learning experiences from the HRE will be additionally connected to the fact of being a European citizen and living in an integrated European Union. The combination of these two issues will bring the European dimension into the catchable world of the young people. The European idea will get access into the daily life of the young people and they will discover the European idea as a mind-set. This includes the engagement with solidarity, equality, social inclusion, freedom of speech, human dignity, participation, freedom of religion. These two levels will be enriched with the concept of intercultural learning as the project will be implemented in a multinational framework with young people from 8 different European countries. The connection between the knowledge and the levels of reflections, attitudes and consciousness and the empowerment to act and think on HR is the crucial aspect of the project. All activities will directly connect to HRE. The participants will acquire knowledge about HR, will gain experience through human rights and will be empowered to support and live Human Rights. The various learning processes all have HR in focus, are attached or connected to them. The result will be a coherent learning on all different levels about Human Rights and individual empowerment for the participants. The connection between the pure knowledge and the levels of reflections, attitudes and consciousness and the empowerment to act and think on HR is the crucial aspect of the project. The whole issue of HR is approached from different aspects and ankles and will be experiences on different levels to incorporate the impact of the summarized learning personally. The learning experience will be comprehensive. The participants will open a space to discover Human Rights, learn about it, apply it and most importantly bring it to check with the individual philosophy of life and the personal mindset. Here the participants will grow the most as they will reflect their own situation and believe system and open new doors.
