With this project we will push the borders between playful artistic expression, personal development and political education. Young people will learn to better understand themselves, their role and responsibility for the world they live in and they will discover this and more designing an artistic, collaborative project in the public realm, which invites everybody passing to get in touch with the projects learning processes. The intercultural dimension of the project helps the youngsters to question stereotypes and overcome prejudices - these are important steps on their way to develop a european identity. Within the participatory processes the youngsters learn about their self-efficacy. Doing so they gather the courage, which is needed to actively design society and living together. Or to put it in different words: The main obejective of this project is to discover and learn what it means to lead a mature (Mündigkeit) life - what it means to use one's reason, intellect, and wisdom without the guidance of another. Young students will learn about methods and forms of expression beyond formal education strategies. They will rediscover their playful mindsets to develop creative solutions for the great challenges the anthropocene poses. The youngsters will work with their own hands artistically with natural materials and they will develop soft skills like empathy resiliences and ambiguity tolerance. These objectives are big and quite daring, but we are happy and confident that the HeART of Play is setting a concise framework, within which it is possible to achieve these goals.
