Objectives

Young people should be able to shape their individuality and shape the future of the EU, respectively that of the European continent. That is why we discuss how the participating countries see / assess their role within the EU or the role of the EU from the perspective of Russia and how they deal with it. Young people are regarded as enrichment for the EU and actors of social change. At the same time, topics such as environment, education and the fight against poverty, as well as growing unemployment among young people (even across EU-borders) are deeply affecting said young people in Europe and beyond. Our planned seminar starts right there: With questions such as “What does the European future mean for young people's own perspectives on life in Europe?” and “Which kind of Europe can young people create?” or “Can political disenchantment among young people still be reversed?” Together with these young people, we go in search of solutions, with new visions for Europe and the dream of a European community and solidarity - even past/beyond EU borders. It is about discovering multicultural diversity as an opportunity for a sustainable Europe! Central to the idea of the “United States of Europe” is the creation of a legitimate confederation of states from all EU countries. National borders are going to be overcome, nationalisms eliminated and a new European identity created. During the meeting, our central questions are: How can we participate in creating such a peaceful Europe? What characterizes our identity? Is Europe / the European continent our mutual home? We would like to address the above-mentioned questions through dealing with the term “home/native country”. Furthermore, we would like to explore the motto of the EU and its significance, and by describing the current situation with a clear policy approach, which is aware of prejudices, thus making it perceptible and understandable for young people. Our project clearly addresses the objectives and priorities of the Erasmus + Youth in Action program. The European dimension is also obvious. With our project, we aim to: - In the current debate of national tendencies and the enforcement of national interests in Europe, which are contrasting the European idea and all cohesion efforts, even beyond European state borders, we would like to send out a signal. - To strengthen the young people involved in learning to deal constructively and objectively with Europe as an ‘area of challenge’. They are supposed to learn what is happening in their respective countries and think about what they can do to improve the situation. - To make a contribution that secures the future sustainability of Europe, particularly in the context of German-Russian perspectives. - To address the importance of Europe / European values for everyone. - To explore the term ‘home/native country’ in order to find out if this can be a culture-connecting element. - To discuss current national socio-political developments / debates, such as right wing, discussions about mutual appreciation, etc. - To discuss the European idea as an opportunity and a promotion of democratic development. With this, we would like to achieve: - Strengthening the participants’ intercultural competences - Defining and possibly reducing prejudices - Researching opportunities for participation and developing strategies for a common European future
