Our project "Wir schenken uns ein Lachen VI” [We gift one another a smile VI] will give young young people who often have a learning or sensory disability or experience economic or social disadvantage the chance to immerse themselves in a different world. A world in which they can learn about their creative, physical and artistic abilities as well as there will strengthing their sense of self and strengthen their key social competencies. The project will take place in the village of Molcad in the South-West of the country Belarus. Working together with a group of professional circus pedagogues young people will create a circus performance in which they will have the opportunity to present their artistic and creative skills. The diverse musical, dance, artistic and circus activities will allow young people to experience, explore and perceive themselves in a unique, safe and nurturing environment, a long way from their usual disadvantaged day to day life. The expert pedagogical staff and circus professionals empower these young people to reach their potential, broaden their horizons and provide them with new opportunities that would otherwise be off limits. The participants will develop skills in the areas of planning, event management as well as teamwork and conflict resolution. Together with our team of educational and circus professionals the young people will develop their awareness of European values and will discuss and actively work with the topics of xenophobia, fear of the other, racism and migration. The participants are given the opportunity to meet as equals, and this encounter creates tolerance and understanding for the respective life realities and different biographies. Through the experience and discovery of their personal strengths, weaknesses, abilities and aptitudes a process of learning will be induced, through which the development of their key competencies will be fostered.
