Objectives

"EU on the Board" is a cycle of two international seminars for youth workers during which we will discuss the structure of institutional system of the EU and try to understand the democratic processes within it. Europe, a small continent divided into many national states that are trying to unite into one Union is a parament clash of national and European interests. The processes are complex and complicated, but often politicians and media over simplify it to prove their right. Young people don’t have enough knowledge of the EU institutional system to filter information they hear around and are in the risk of manipulation. This is one of the reasons of rising euro-skepticism and luck of trust in the EU. The Union we know today is a consequence of many small events, decisions or compromises through the history of European Integration. Only by reviewing the history of integration we are able to understand todays structures. The main motivation to organise the "EU on the Board" was to exchange our thoughts on the topic and develop a training agenda, which we will use in the daily work in our organisations. We invented and developed tools to raise in our youngsters a feeling of belonging to European society using the innovative methds of non-formal education. The main of the project was to understand the democratic process in the European Union and develop a training method – educational board games to attract youngsters to talk about Europe and European Union. Why planning the project we set for ourselves following objectives: - to analyze the institutional system of the EU with the special focus on youth policy and democratic processes that young people can influence - to raise awareness on common European interests and refresh the faith in EU integration among young people - to promote innovative methods in non-formal education and learn how interactive game can be used for the educational purposes, - to develop a training agenda based on board games which will be used for the future work of our organizations.
