Objectives

Pressure persisting on the labour marked, personal backgrounds of migration and flight, economical insecurity, right wing backlash in Europe - young adults face a variety of challenges. Especially young people, who are being marginalized in society – based on their origin (migration, experiences of flight), to their gender identity or sexual orientation or due to less access to education and financial resources -, are being confronted with challenges like discrimination, separation and feelings of inferiority. Especially discriminated young people are getting exhausted quickly in civil society engagement. This can be seen at individual level e.g. through the fact, that already young people are facing burnout. In civil society groups, there are mostly few activists, who dedicate themselves to too big societal problems, what makes them feel powerless. Intensifying factors for stress and burnout are individual experience of discrimination. Affected young people tend to fall out of civil society groups quite quickly. This contains risks of further feelings of separation and political (right-wing) radicalisation. Though it is more important than ever, that young people with and without experiences of discrimination, together shape society and collectively live and internalize central values like tolerance, human rights and democracy. Therefore e.g. individual and collective resilience is needed, in order to be active in civil society in the long run. The project addresses active civil society groups, who e.g. face the following challenges: - existing sustainably as a group, which means not burning out and not falling apart due to e.g. conflicts or internal discrimination, - strengthening existing civil society engagement, - finding new activists and keeping old ones - especially young people with experiences of discrimination, - working together equally as young people with and without experiences of discrimination, which means, shaping and promoting group-internal diversity, - acting against political (right-wing) radicalisation, - opening perspectives for young people - for their civil society engagement and for their chances at the labour market, - building transnational networks with other European groups and organizations. Objectives of the project: 1. Civil society groups have been strengthened, they keep existing and active in the long run. 2. Participants have developed individual resilience, what supports their civil society engagement or even strengthens it. 3. Individual and collective initiative of the participants and their groups/organizations has been strengthened. 4. Values like mutual understanding, tolerance, solidarity, friendship, democracy and consensus and a feeling of European togetherness have been strengthened.
