Objectives

“Volunteering for Eco Employment” training project was developed in order to respond to two main insights: a) There are many organizations in Europe working with young volunteers on everyday basis, but lacking strategy and long-term objectives, which would ensure personal development of volunteers on one hand and sustainability of organisations on the other. b) Volunteering programmes, if they are meeting needs of young people and have their competences assessed in a proper way, can do a lot for future employment of young people. Therefore, the main objective of the project is: to increase the employability of young people in Europe through tailored volunteering programmes. The project has two main themes: Volunteering and Youth Employment and its main objectives are: • To train 26 youth workers to develop and implement eco and sustainable tourism based volunteering programmes that would lead to enhancement of young people’s employability; • To gain understanding of volunteering programmes as a powerful tool for inclusion, empowerment and personal development of young people; • To develop understanding and ability to match needs of young people on one side and job markets on the other; • To share experience, knowledge and skills on trends in employment paths and in supporting youth to proactively take their future and carrier in their own hands. It has three integrated learning phases: 1. Preparation for the course through distance e-learning; 2. 8 day long Residential training course taking place in Kustriner Vorland, Germany; 3. Follow-up to the course through distance e-learning. Methodology used in all phases is based on active participation and experiential non-formal education methods, framed by the core intercultural learning process. “Volunteering for Eco Employment” is scheduled to take place in August 2019, with 26 youth workers coming from 8 different countries: Germany (HOSTING), Lithuania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Poland, Ireland, The Republic of North Macedonia, and Romania
