The information we reach nowadays has never been easier and faster thanks to the rapid development of new technologies. Due to existing massive forms of communication and easy access to them youth people from the very early age are able to reach the news at the very moment when they are released. If on the one hand sometimes mass media plays a significant positive role in reflecting the reality and serves to protect of the human rights to freedom of expression and democracy, on the other hand often it has been used in a negative way whilst creating fake news on purpose to spread hatred, discriminating, intolerant and disrespectful information and attitudes towards different ethnic, religious, cultural and etc. groups. The free circulation of malicious lies, the ineffectiveness of fact-checking, the resilience of populist propaganda, racism and sexism and the emergence of the so-called post-truth era appear to challenge a fundamental cornerstone of ethical journalism – that facts matter for democracy and that people want to be well-informed when called upon to make potentially life-changing decisions Frequently, mass media creates a purposeful propaganda against governments and political systems through spreading fake news, distorted facts or both of them in order to decline a trust form the society. This inevitably cause a low level of trust propensity in youth too, one of the most sensitive part of the society, and negatively relates to a high level of youth involvement in civic engagement: decision making processes, participation in elections and etc. Because online platforms had strongly gained importance among youth it had also become one of the most discussed issues surrounding the media problems and its dangerous impact on the society. The most vulnerable social group is among youngsters who are non-resistant to fake news and easily manipulated through social media. An open platform which often uses unverified contents and little regulations. This can become a direct and indirect reason of youth marginalization and exclusion from their society. Since nowadays almost every young person uses social media and also receives lots of information from mass media automatically without purposeful looking up therefore all of them can easily become a victim of fake or distorted news. so the problem is sharply risen and the necessity to be discussed it and making actual steps is significantly important. Our project is created by youth for youth and serves to give them equal, tolerant and intercultural space to make their contribution to solving above mentioned problems. The aim of this project was to enhance media literacy of our participants through increasing their awareness about positive and negative sides of mass media, make them aware fake news strategies and purposeful media propaganda aspects and equip them with digital skills and knowledge in order to recognize, use or spread themselves mass and social media information properly and get rid of negative influence from them.
