The international youth meeting " Russia on rails: exchanging ideas - learning for life - growing together " will be organised for young people from Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Russia from 12.08.2019 - 27.08.2019 in Russia. Our main topic will be the relations between Russia and Europe in the past and present. The participants will gain a lot of new knowledge on the topic and will learn that there are numerous historical, cultural and political points of contact and connections between the project countries in addition to the separating aspects. They will have the opportunity to bring their own position and thoughts into a lively exchange and to discuss them together. Using Russia as an example, they will experience that a country can be much more heterogeneous than is represented by the media in other countries. During their journey on the Trans-Siberian Railway and their stay in various cities along the route, they gain a representative picture of the diversity of the host country in order to form their own differentiated picture. Through the joint acquisition of knowledge, the exchange of ideas and the shared experiences, the encounter aims to promote critical and differentiated thinking among the participants and to overcome mutual prejudices and stereotypical ways of thinking. The project aims to strengthen the intercultural and social skills of the participants and thus contribute to the dialogue between the participating countries.
