Objectives

In a global zeitgeist, marked by the strengthening of populistic tendencies and national self-interest, we seek to address the challenges of a multicultural society. The world is growing together and facing tremendous problems: Climate change, pollution of the seas and vast migratory flows. While it is obvious that these problems can only be solved through the cooperation of the international community, governments are falling into the deceptive promises of simple solutions and the tendency to go it alone as a nation. This is the age in which our project takes place. It deals with the questions: how the positive outcomes of multicultural coexistence can be increased, how parallel societies can grow together again, and how to live side by side becoming a multilingual unit, transforming from groups without mutual interests and understanding into a community of solidarity. What divides a multicultural society and what unifies it? We would like to investigate these questions in our youth meetings – through intellectual discourse and using the arts. The project will resume a youth exchange which was successfully held in October 2016 and will continue building with the same partners. Just as it was three years ago, this project will focus on key issues that will continue to receive special attention in 2019. Key Action 1 seeks to „reach marginalised young people, promote cultural diversity, stimulate intercultural and religious dialogue, the development of common values such as freedom, tolerance and respect for human rights, as well as promote critical thinking.“
