The project Reclaim The Neighborhoods aimed to address the challenges faced by young people in post-industrial and industrial cities and mining suburban areas & to encourage them to take an active role in the local communities, to contribute to the transition of the society, using methods of non-formal education and creative activism. The objectives of the project were planned in 3 steps: - firstly, to develop the capacities of the youth workers and facilitators, exploring tools of art and creative work, facilitating skill sharing and discussion around social, linguistic and cultural diversity. We aimed to give space to exchange practices of youth work in context of transition from industrial to postindustrial communities, and reflect on successful practices and learning experiences. - secondly, to support the youth workers in reaching out to youngsters from their local communities, applying the methods of creative activism, urban interventions and nonformal education, - thirdly, to provide opportunities for youngsters to participate in international mobility, provide a safe space for transcultural learning, overcome fears, broaden the horizon, discover common interests, develop linguistic, social, intercultural competences.
