Objectives

The project "Skills for START” is the youth exchange financed by the European Commission through Erasmus+ programme, which will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2019. The target group for this exchange is 20-30 years old young people. 8 countries will participate in the project, represented by: Copenhagen Youth Network (Denmark), Youth for Society (Georgia), Walk Together (Bulgaria), Mitra France (France), Dicle University Youth Network (Turkey), You In Europe (Greece), Al-Emad Alkabeer For Training And Development (Jordan), Asociación Juvenil Almenaras (Spain). Youth unemployment has dramatically increased across countries in the European Union, especially after the 2008 global crisis and the 2010 Eurozone crisis. According to ILO data, in 2017 the youth unemployment rate in EU-28 was 16.7% of the active population aged 15-24. Moreover, violence and crime have a direct relationship with the limitations caused by socioeconomic inequality, exclusion and weak public institutions. Improving youth sense of initiative and entrepreneurial skills is the prevention of youth engagement in crime, their marginalization of segregation. The situation is even dramatic in context of gender. Historically, women/girls have been more affected by unemployment than men. In some countries, a large part of the young female population becomes inactive, limiting opportunities for participation in the public sphere. The European Commission has stressed the urgent need to tackle the problem and encouraged the use of the existing mobility programmes, including the Erasmus+ to increase young people’s employability and enhance their creative cultural and innovative capabilities towards sense of initiative and entrepreneurship. A youth exchange can be a strong and effective tool to promote the sense of initiative and entrepreneurship of young people, and have a direct impact on their future employability chances! The aim of the project is to provide a space for young people to share knowledge and develop together, to experience entrepreneurship education in an intercultural, international context, and to focus on exchange of good practice and identifying solutions to common challenges; to give the opportunity to people with fewer opportunities - as those who live in provincial areas, and belong the most vulnerable and marginalized groups such as – youth with refugee or Migrants background, youth at risk or in conflict with the law IDPs, girls with lack of access to high education - to learn, to share experiences, and to explore various tools, techniques, and practices on issues such as employability, active participation in social environment and entrepreneurship. Objectives of the project are: · to give the youngsters the possibility to share experiences, learn from each other’s and to offer them the possibility of working in teams to achieve a common goal and to improve their abilities in this sense · Promoting Erasmus Plus and “Erasmus for Entrepreneurs” as well as the results of the exchange on the local, regional, national and European level. · to understand the huge potential of Erasmus+, as a concrete toolbox to develop opportunities for young people · Learn how to document their skills and competences, as a way of personal and professional development (Youthpass) · to explore, exchange and discuss different ways how a youth exchange can contribute to employability and entrepreneurship.
