Objectives

Everyday we witness the outbreak of extreme racist phenomena, the violation of basic human rights, hate speech. A few months ago, a young man was brutally -and fatally- hit in the heart of Athens, accused of attempted robbery, while in reality it was his sexual orientation that "provoked" the assault. In Europe there has been a series of arson attacks in temples, and in Sri Lanka there have been terror attacks with over 250 casualties. In April 2019 in Trieste, Italy, a semi-marathon with the participation of only European athletes was organized, excluding participation of Africans (APF 27/4/19). These events are not only manifestations of racism and discrimination, but also of the way people perceive human rights and democracy, which is getting worse by using the Internet to spread hate speech. The need for educational initiatives aimed at hate speech and the elimination of extremist phenomena is evident from the increasing number of incidents in Greece, Europe and globally. The aim of the project is to inform 44 young people from 8 countries and their group leaders about the increase of all kinds of extremist violence and hate speech phenomena, to awaken their interest in a non-formal educational framework for the relevant problems but also to empower them on prevention by following eight milestones-as many as days of exchange. The proposed activities will help those involved: Become motivated to learn, develop their knowledge, skills, attitudes and values Be receptive to change: we can all change ourselves and our relationships with others Encourage the less participatory to actively engage and express themselves Take responsibilities within the team and contribute with their own experiences and skills Raise their self-esteem and feel solidarity, encourage the coherence of teamwork The activities in this project aim, with the help of appropriate facilitators, to train new participants to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviors that will have to respect in real life and online; those principles that have been prepared and agreed upon more than 60 years ago, the fundamental dignity of all people, their equality of rights, freedom and their role in decision-making and the definition of rules that should govern their everyday lives and are known as second-generation human rights. We believe that the phenomena of extremist behavior stem largely from hate speech, and their elimination is a human rights matter. Thus, the approach to be used in activities is based on the principles and standards of human rights. This makes the project useful for addressing hate speech, but also for understanding human rights per se and how they are implemented both online and offline. In order to create a safe environment, taking into account that many of the activities and issues mentioned may directly concern some of the participants, who may even have been victims, we will approach the 8-step goals of the themes that will concern us through theatrical cognitive exploration techniques where the relevant skills are enhanced by the "sensing of thought and social status", with the written texts "Writing and Reading in a Role" with the "Collective Character", "The Corner", The Corridor of consciousness '', "conflicting thoughts or advice '', with the "frozen images" technique - a primarily imaging and detachment technique where action stops and time opens to illuminate the details of a story and to understand the causes, with the animation of the image the participants proceed by proposing solutions. Alsoa roleplay game and debate are two other techniques that will be used to approach and clarify the following topics: 1 Hate speech and internet access 2 Freedom of expression 3 Racism, xenophobia and discrimination 4 Social and individual rights: Health, privacy and security 5 Democracy and participation, education in citizenship 6 Gender Equality / Gender and Family Violence 7 Cultural heritage The project is in line with the needs of the Erasmus + program for 2019, namely the thematic Health and Wellbeing, ICT - new technologies - digital competences, Youth.
