Objectives

Youth work have a crucial role to play in shaping the future of Europe, by addressing the more than 87 million young people in the EU. One of the goals developed by the new the EU Youth Strategy for 2019-2027, is to achieve inclusive societies for all young people. New migratory phenomena brought several social and inclusion challenges. With the financial crisis of 2007 still taking a toll on the young people, some political figures are capitalizing on the young people’s insecurity to promote radicalization. There is a fundamental need to tackle racist stereotypes and foster dialogue and social cohesion, combating discrimination and segregation. The project aims to equip youth workers with necessary competences and skills to be able to run workshops, which will help to break down the barriers between local and migrant groups in a society. The objectives of the project are: I) to analyse the roots of xenophobia and racism II) to bring forward the stereotypes which are attach to the state of being refugee or immigrant III) to provide methods, tools, past experiences and best practices on the implementation of workshops related to tackling xenophobia and racism IV) to compose a guide based on the material and the discussions that took place during the project. V) to set the base for further cooperation between the participating organisation.
