As first important objective of the project was to raise the awareness on the degradation of the planet produced by plastic. The youngsters have learned about the topic through non-formal education activities. Through the different sessions of the project they have prepared developed and performed various workshops and campaigns. We went to make them able to spread the message by themselves which we consider that is an essential step. They have learned by doing about the process that the products that contain plastic go through, its sustainability and the damage that those products produce to the environment, how to act responsibly and consistently, ways to raise consciousness of others. We were willing to make such an impact in the participant’s life and to their local communities and sending organisations to the point to make them to change their daily habits. We believe that there is a big difference between to know about thee topic and to be involved directly on it and this is one of the main goals of the project, being involved in an altruist way, questioning what we are doing everyday and becoming more interested in global the challenges that we have in our time as humans. The participants have been introduced deeply into the topic through the design and performing workshops of the various subtopics that the plastic issue involves. In order to reach the objective of raising the consciousness of as many people as possible, the participants have created individual online campaigns for their local communities and a campaign in Santiago de Compostela. These campaigns had other effect among the participants and reached other objective of the project which focuses on the growth and the development of the participants during the exchange. We have worked also in the improvement of their soft skills and competences. This intercultural environment helped them broaden their mind. We were willing for them to gain cultural awareness, including the understanding of the different cultural values, beliefs and perceptions in Europe. The participants have been used English as official language of communication during the exchange and it was other of the goals of the project to improved their communication skills.
