Objectives

The youth exchange "BE-ART", managed by MAD for Europe, and its main activities are related with the subject of urban art, to give young people the opportunity to use it as a vehicle to communicate their ideas, as well as a tool to promote European activism and intercultural dialogue among young people in the EU . It is intended that all those who are involved, both directly and indirectly, reflect on the knowledge of a particular art form such as urban art, with its techniques and purposes, so that it can be used as a vehicle for messages positive social issues, such as European citizenship and solidarity. The primary objectives of our project are closely related to the Erasmus + Youth priorities for young people to promote culture and social well-being, so that they can learn about other lifestyles coming from other countries, focused mostly on the urban art of the participating cities. Therefore, we want to highlight that as people with fewer opportunities participate, it is intended that they develop new methods that allow everyone to fight problems through urban art. In turn, they want to encourage those young people who do not have the opportunity to travel, to do so, this exchange being an impulse to overcome barriers. Above all, we want to foster a sense of European community among young people so they can share original art forms, highlighting the importance of human rights to be in cohesion with people of different culture and lifestyle. Other objectives are the improvement of knowledge and the importance of the history of urban art, improving artistic skills through non-formal communication methods. According to the "European Strategy on Poverty and Social Exclusion 2010-2020", "at least 20 million people are at risk of poverty or social exclusion", so this project is intended to favor all those who live in this context. The idea that we want to transmit with this project is the importance for young people of creating a space for intercultural dialogue, explained through urban art. Not everyone has the opportunity to express their ideas, since there are times when living in peripheral regions, in the precariousness of housing and experiencing the risk of racism and social discrimination can lead to the inability to cultivate passions and live experiences to share opinions and thoughts. In terms of the objectives, what we want to achieve is to promote new public platforms for young people to encourage debate and intercultural dialogue, through a creative and original form of art. Thanks to this, they will be able to develop new communication methods and at the same time they will be able to improve their artistic and linguistic skills, speaking in a language that is not their mother tongue (English). One of the main objectives is to help young people in their search for future employment, expanding their knowledge, developing a broader vision of what "European Identity" means to promote responsible citizenship.
