Objectives

We need to adopt new green behaviors urgently in order to save the world in which we live in. Climate changes are a real problem and one of the most important challenges for the near future in Europe. It's impossible to ignore this massive crisis and like Greta Thunberg said our house is on fire and we need to behave according to that. People need to adopt a more ecofriendly attitude and the best way to achieve that is through environmental education. The youngsters are the future of Europe and we need to raise awareness near the youngsters first and then to replicate the effect in older generations. The youth exchange "Green is the new Gold" wanted to raise awareness for the problems of climate change, to highlight the need to reach the goals of the Paris Agreement, to implement eco-friendly behaviors and to develop new ways of environmental education through non-formal education methods. It gathered 33 youngsters from Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Estonia, Serbia and Italy in the village of Senderiz, Lobeira, Spain and used non-formal education methodologies to reach its objectives and to reinforce the European dimension of the project, promoting as well the values of inclusion, tolerance, democracy and multicultural dialogue. The objectives of the project were: >to raise awareness of 33 youngsters about the benefits of the 3R concept (reduce, reuse, recycle), and the benefits of recycling, reusing of garbage, garbage selection and garbage removal; >to broaden participants knowledge and to introduce the topic of environment protection and sustainable development; >to promote the 3rs and other eco-friendly behaviors; >to tackle participants creativity and to engage them in creating new methods in form of games and workshops for young people related to 3R concept and implement 4 local workshops with locals from Senderiz and Lobeira; >to create reusable bags from old tshirts and donate them to the local farmers; >to provide space for promotion of Cultural diversity in Europe and intercultural understanding between youngsters coming from different social, cultural, religious background >to raise visibility of Erasmus+ program.
