Objectives

The project will focus on giving youth workers, both staff and volunteers from volunteering and youth organisations, the possibility to exchange good practices, skills and knowledge around how to intervene when observing situations of discrimination and violence in youth projects. Our objectives are: - Create a common understanding of how an active citizen can show solidarity supporting someone being victimized - Train each other on tools and strategies of civil courage - Exchange best practices of individuals standing up for each other - Observe and analyse the threats young people face in on- and offline spaces in which they could need or show civil courage - Analyse the specific challenges of violence and discrimination that youth workers face in youth projects and centers - Understand the bystander effect better and how to break/ overcome it - Learn how to promote (safe) intervention among young people - Create a network of multipliers that will share the tools with their colleagues and young people that they work with - Promote European values of democracy, participation and inclusion - Create a collection of ideas and strategies as a manual for other youth workers and young people themselves, including 5 non-formal education methods that can be used in the preparation of youth leaders and project coordinators - Develop a guideline for reactions that will later be discussed and voted upon in the International Committee Meeting of SCI with more than 40 organisations from all continents present - Host an exchange event with local stakeholders to raise awareness - Network between organisations and networks - Create common strategies for working together in the future
