The project “Truths, Lies and Stereotypes” is a youth exchange focused on social inclusion and opportunities of social-economic minorities at local and international level. The countries involved in this project are Italy, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia and Spain. With this project we want to give the opportunity to organizations and young people to share needs, needs and perspectives on the issue of social inclusion of people with fewer opportunities, the encounter with the different and the value of multiculturalism. At the same time, the “Asociación Brújula Intercultural” wants to show how the Erasmus + program, and in particular the international exchange activities can represent an important inclusive opportunity. The specific objectives of "Truth, Lies and Stereotypes" are: promote the encounter between different cultures and between people with different life histories; support dialogue on social inclusion between local and international organizations; develop skills in communication, photography and videomaking; create a final event on the theme of social inclusion thanks to the communication tools used during the project; create a promotion campaign on social inclusion; give to the group the opportunity to reflect on the concept of "other" and "different", on our prejudices and stereotypes, offering different points of view; offer to the participants an intercultural learning experience; promote the Erasmus+ program, the values of equality and social inclusion of which it is the bearer and make the “Asociación Brújula Intercultural” known locally. The youth exchange will take place in Burgos from 16 to 24 September 2019 and will be attended by thirty youngster aged 18 to 25 and a group leader for each country involved. Together, they will take part in non-formal education activities on social inclusion theme with the use of communication tools, such as photography, posters and video making. The strategy is based on the alternation of reflection moments, non-formal educational activities (workshops, teambuilding, intercultural activities) and direct contact with the marginalised part of the society in the city, thanks to the collaboration with different organizations in the area which have been working with this target group for years: Rom community, immigrants and clochards. The participants will collect experiences that allows them to increase their self awareness and their perception of what is “different”. This project has all the characteristics to be an important experience of personal growth for the youngsters who will participate, encouraged to play a part in the program, to get to know themselves, but “the others”. In fact, among the objectives that the project proposes is to work on the stereotypes linked to the marginalized part of society, since we believe that every society and culture is used to create prejudices and unjustified fears towards people. What we would like to do is overcome these prejudices by listening to real life stories of people who are often negatively classified. This project will give the opportunity to become aware of the realities of social exclusion present on our territory, how societies live these realities and what they really do for them.
