Objectives

Youth is a critical stage for well-being and mental health during which young people develop social interaction, learning and self-control skills. A negative experience at this point can have a detrimental effect on both, the development of these skills and their mental health. Exposure to risk factors in early life can significantly affect mental well-being. Young people are a group that is highly vulnerable to depression and anxiety due to various factors they face every day. The figures of depression in society are extremely alarming. In the European Rector of the World Health Organization (WHO), depression and anxiety disorders are among the 5 main causes of the general burden of disease in young people. Suicide is the leading cause of death among young people aged 10 to 19 in low and middle income countries in the Region, and the second cause in high-income countries. The WHO notes that the number of people living with depression has increased by 18.4% between 2005 and 2015. It also warns that depression will be the leading cause of disability in 2030. Given that, the participating organisations have decided to carry out the project DANCE - 4 -YOUTH in order to help to reduce this problem among youth. The main objective of the project is therefore to provide our youth workers a series of tools, knowledge and exchange of dynamics to create healthy and collaborative spaces to prevent depression. During the project we will focus on 8 main pillars which mainly relate to depression and are areas of daily interest in the lives of young people creating a series of habits to prevent it. -Emotional Management -Relations -Self-confidence -Addictions -Adultism (Transition from youth to adulthood) -Competition and sports -Traditional culture (Traditional dances as a cultural heritage) -Active participation in society and in Europe The specific objectives (SO) of the project are therefore as follows: - Providing youth workers with tools for the creation of healthy and collaborative spaces. - Increasing youth workers´skills to connect with young people through European activities and citizen participation. - Building ideas that lead to future collaborations within the framework of different key actions of the Erasmus + program.
